I have been raising chickens and gardening for two years now and there's still a lot of room to learn and grow! But being somewhat new to homesteading, I understand the needs of beginners and how intimidating it can be to start the journey. There are so many things to learn just by doing and making mistakes along the way. I have learned more from my mistakes than I have from reading or watching others. One of the most important things I've learned is that just because it works for someone else, doesn't mean it's going to work the same for you. Sometimes you have to try something for yourself to fully understand it or know if it's going to best serve you, your garden, and your animals.
journey began with a simple dream of wanting to own a farm, but having zero knowledge on raising animals or growing food. With my fiancé Will and our cattle dog Blue, we decided to start an urban homestead in the city of Portland, OR. I began sharing my new venture on Instagram and quickly became known as Chicken Chaser Bri. I am now a full-time content creator for beginner chicken owners, gardeners, and homesteaders. You can watch our journey on any social media platform as my family prepares to buy our starter farm this year.
